Card - come to my slumber party?

Hello!
I hope your Tuesday has been great! I've been home today with a sick little man, so we have been watching movies and cozying up on the couch in a "nest".  My mum always made us a nest to sit in when we were sick, and I now do the same thing for The Boy.  What special thing do you do when your kids are sick?

Today I'm showcasing a set of cards I have been working on for the last fortnight, but only just finished... Ok so 'procrastinating' might be a better term LOL!!! The set are for a friend's daughter (Miss 8) to give out as slumber party invitations for her birthday in a few weeks.

Feedback is that Miss 8 loves them!!!! Yay!

Card - aaarfff!

Hi there!

Over the weekend I was thrilled to finally get together with some crafty gals to do some colouring!  Although of course, I was too busy chit-chatting and well... most of my colouring from the morning was a complete and utter DISASTER.  Simply because I was so distracted!!! LOL!!! Oh well!!!

I got home last night and thought I'd quickly put this card together as I really need to get my stockpile up again!  This image is one of the Mo Manning characters "Baron and Butch" which you can buy here as a digi.  I bought it with some other images for a very special project, which I hope to bring to you in a few months.

I love this image because it reminds me of The Boy and Boy Dog.  The Boy LOVES his tablet (anything electronic really, he's a bit of a whizz), but has a very special friendship with Boy Dog.  He adores Girl Dog too, but Boy Dog has a special special place in The Boy's heart... lap.... bed..... LOL

Card recipe:
Cardstock/paper: Stampin' Up!, Kaszazz, Echo Park, offcuts, blending card
Stamps: Animal Talk (SU!), Baron and Butch (Mo Manning)
Ink: Memento Black, Cherry Cobbler (SU!)
Other: distress tool, silver clip, brown ribbon with blue stitch (Kaszazz), coloured pearls (Kaisercraft)

Challenges:
Mo's DP2 challenge blog: #233 Birthday card for a boy
Sister Act card challenge: #66 anything goes

 Thanks for visiting!

Layout - CAMping

Hello again!

Last layout for today - see my last post for why this wasn't posted over the weekend like I'd hoped!!!

This layout was also completed at our retreat last weekend.  Triangles were definitely very tricky to work with!  I ended up repeating the style from the "hello baby" layout which didn't quite work as well with triangles as it did with squares but was still a lot of fun to sketch out!

"CAMping" is based on the July 1 Stuck?! sketch:

And kept really simple.  The journalling talks about how The Boy (AKA Cam) went through a stage of sleeping with random objects in his bed, including his little yellow table that looked like a little tent!!

Layout recipe:
Cardstock/paper: Bazzill, white
Stamp set: Gorgeous Grunge (SU!)
Inks: Tempting Turquoise, Daffodil Delight, Gumball Green (all SU!)
Other: black pen, pencil, ruler, washi tape (SU!)

Challenge:
Stuck!? Sketches: 1 July sketch

Thanks for visiting, and hope you are getting some time to scrap this week!

Layout - hello baby

Happy Monday!
I know I promised you more projects late last week, well finally they are here and ready to share!  I sat down Saturday afternoon with The Boy's laptop to spend the afternoon uploading projects to blogger only to find that the 'o' button was stuck.  It took FOREVER to do just one post (first 'o' wouldn't work at all, then would type oooooooooooooooooooooo randomly, then back to not working), so I gave up and did some colouring instead (which I will share another day).

Here's a layout I completed at our recent retreat, just two layers + the photo.  I had intended to enter it into the Stick It Down challenge for that week, but I missed the cut off by only a couple of hours! Argh! I've shared the sketch and link below for you to check it out for yourself.

The sketch:

This layout is called 'hello baby' because that's what I say to both of my dogs when I get home each day - they really are spoilt little furry children!

Thanks for swinging by!

Layout - read my lips

Happy Saturday! I hope you are having a great start to the weekend! I am spending the day tidying up and washing all our linen up nice and fresh!  Isn't clean sheet day just the best!

I finally have the photos up and ready to share!  The last lot of photos were just too dark.  I'm going to attempt making my own photography light box in the coming days and that should help too!

Here's the first layout to share.  Bright flowers are just not my thing, but the colours in this month's challenge at Scrapping Outback were just impossible to resist! Here's the photo inspiration:

Don't you wish you were there drinking that cocktail??

And here is my layout:

This photo was one of many we took this day in the pool.  It wasn't until fairly recently that we realised we had captured The Boy learning to lipread! I wish we had realised then, insisted on more hearing tests. Doctors told me The Boy would start talking at daycare, playgroup, with siblings... I wish I'd seen more signs, and insisted. Please, if you have ANY concerns about your toddler speaking, listening and/or socialising, get his or her hearing checked!!!! And don't let doctors fob you off!

Layout recipe:
Cardstock/paper: Summer Paradise (Simple Stories), Bazzill
Other: spritzed with diluted red ink, brown rick rack, gold brads, spotty brads (Kaszazz), thickers (coloured with black ink), twine, distressing tool, Walnut Stain distress ink

Thanks for dropping by!

The rest of the retreat tags!

Hello sunshine!

Are you ready to roll through Friday and into the weekend! I sure am!  I'm hoping to get out into the garden before the weather sets in again, and plant out some agaves and bromeliads that have been frowning at me for a couple of weeks that they want OUT of their pots and INTO the ground!

I have a couple of projects to share, which I hope to get online for you today.  So this is the first of 3 posts (I hope! I need to retake two photos when I get home!).  Do you remember the Some Odd Girl tag I made with Dancin' Mae? You can check her out here if you missed it.  Well I forgot to show you the others I made for our retreaters! Please excuse the very bad photo, it was taken late at night and then I gave them all away without thinking to take another one!

I'm really happy how these came up, and I just love that they are so individual with just a change in shirt colour!

Stay tuned for a couple of layouts, or if you're getting off at this station, have a wonderful rest of the day!

Layout -wild child

Happy Monday!

The weather is cool and the wind crisp here in North Queensland, which makes it very hard to be motivated to move from a seat once cozy and warm to do any craft... Luckily this past weekend I went to a scrapbooking retreat and managed to complete a layout or two and progress a few more and I will show those off to you in another post. We had a fabulous time and hope to get together again soon - with a few more of our circle this time we hope!

Today's layout is one I'm sharing "just because". I created it for a DT application and am now free to share it with you all.

I think this messy layout is perfect for this photo - The Boy is covered in paper mâché glue having had a lovely time making a mask for his Masks and Sculptures Cub badge (I think that's the one anyway!).

Techniques:
Texture paste scraping, altered plastic frame, altered title (painted, texture paste, heated, embossed, rubbed and inked), distressing, altered chipboard cogs (distress heat embossing with metallic rub), rub ons and washi tape

Hope you are getting creative!

Thanks for visiting!

PS: One Messy Mamma is now on Facebook - hope to see you there! X

Layout - love

Happy Tuesday! How is your week shaping up so far?  Mine is busy, and I'm very much looking forward to a scrappin' weekend with four of the most fabulous women you will ever meet.  We are all desperately in need of a fun weekend away, and even though we are staying fairly local (very central between our homes) it will be nice to just spend the hours scrapping, stamping, chatting and laughing without looking at dust bunnies, dishes, Mount Washmore and of course hearing... Muuummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm!!!

Today's layout is a fun messy layout that I've been working on over the last few nights.  I didn't realise the photo looks so yellow! Must be the lighting combined with the concrete wall behind it (looked fab on my phone!).  Painful isn't it when photos aren't what you think when you get them up on the screen! If I'm home in time tonight I may retake the photo and maybe some close-ups before I lose the natural light.

Updated with new pics:

Layout recipe:
Cardstock/paper: Merci, Bo Bunny, page from old book (being turned into an art journal, I can't wait!)
Stamps: birdcage from Bird Song (free with magazine, unknown brand), "love my life" (Kaisercraft)
Inks: Walnut Stain (Ranger Inc), Gesso, Sapphire mist (Glimmer Angels), Ocean Soul smooch, bronze rub
Template: bricks (Kaisercraft)
Embellishments: brooch clasp, metal flower, chicken wire chipboard (Memory Maze) cork letters and chevron (Studio Calico), no-slip matting (yep! that stuff you line drawers with), bronze thread, handmade flowers from spritzed old book pages, doily (SU!)

Challenge:
My Creative Sketches - June 2014 sketch:

(It's hard to see, but I used bronze thread to stitch through the non-slip mat to create the horizontal lines :))
