{Southern Girls DT} Layout - Moments in my arms

Hello hello!

Today I am sharing my very first DT project for Southern Girls Challenge.  The challenge this fortnight is ...

DIES AND PUNCHES

Which of course, are my favourite things ever!  I've loved punches since I used a Santa shaped one in primary school for a craft activity... I'm not going to admit how many years ago THAT was though :) (let's just say in the 90s).

This layout features The Boy and I, while he was getting over the trauma of general anesthetic used so he could have an MRI.  He woke up screaming, and didn't stop for a good 45 minutes, and then we had to sit in this position for another 90 minutes wrapped in the first quilt I ever made, until he recovered enough that we could go home.  Poor little mite!  Instead of focusing on the MRI though, which I have scrapped on a previous occasion, I've focused the layout on the two of us (plus Stinky Bear!) in a comforting and loving moment, captured on film by The Man.

Layout recipe:
Cardstock, paper, embellishments: February Main Cake Kit from A Piece of Cake Designs
Dies: Block Words (Kaisercraft), A Gilded Life lace (Spellbinders)
Journalling: Chocolate Chip pen (SU!)

Come on over and join in the fun, just use your favourite dies and punches to create a layout, card or other project and link it up!

Have a creative day!

Layout - love shared reading

Happy Monday!

Did you have a good weekend? I hope you got your craft on, I definitely did.  Lots of sewing and a layout to boot! Yeah!

I finally managed to get my hands on a Main Cake kit from A Piece of Cake Designs a few weeks ago, and it finally arrived last Monday.  My hubby teased me with photos of the box knowing that I was stuck at work and then off to a meeting and would barely get a chance to crack it open that day never mind playing with it.  For nearly a whole week the kit lay spread out at the end of our kitchen table - I couldn't bring myself to cut into any of it, lest I regret it.  Such scrumptious papers! And LOADS of embellishments!

Lately I find that I work best if I have a sketch to start me off.  So I picked up the first March sketch from Stuck?! Sketches (see below) and here's my take on it, kinda rotated and flipped:

The photo doesn't do justice to all the glittery, sparkly, shiny elements!  I can't wait to get started on my next layout using this kit!

Layout recipe:
Papers, cardstock, embellishments: A Piece of Cake Designs February Main Cake Kit
Other: cork arrow and chevron (Studio Calico)

Challenges:
Stuck?!: March 1 sketch

Scrapbook Boutique: Colour challenge

Do you share books (take turns to read pages/paragraphs) with your kids? The Boy mainly reads independently now, but sometimes he will read aloud to me and we will talk about the story just like we used to :D Love that kid!

Layout - NO1DAD

Hi crafters and craftees!!

I was super excited to be invited to be the March guest designer for Scrap Our Stash, and I have been bursting with the news for the past few weeks! And here it is!!!

My layout celebrates the close relationship between my son and hubby, but the journalling is about our son's first triathlon - he was so excited to participate (training wheels and all), and finished with a huge smile on his face. He was just so proud of himself, and we couldn't have been prouder of him either. I have used a combination of Kaisercraft (Garage Days), DCWV and Stampin' Up! paper, with lots of fussy cutting, inking and hand stitching!

This month's SOS challenge is STENCIL:

S - SU! paper, stitching

T - tape, tags, twine

E - edging, embossing

N - numbers, "N01-D4D"

C - circles, cotton

I - ink

L - lemon twine

HINT: Take a picture of your kids with their participation certificates - they are DATED and will help you work out exactly when the event was years later when you get around to scrapping them!

I really hope you'll play along with the challenge!

Love,

OMM xox
