Card - happy birthday/love you

Last share for this evening, because if am slightly pooped from all the crafting and normal life this weekend!  Besides, Downton Abbey is on in a few minutes, and then a double of Castle and well I am taping it all in case I don't last the distance... Some of us poor souls have to go to work tomorrow after all!

This card is one of my favourite creations for this weekend, and takes on three more challenges. I'm scooting in at the last minute for the Mojo Monday sketch:

And the Colour Throwdown challenge:

And without further ado:

Card recipe:
Card stock/paper: Chocolate Chip, Pear Pizazz, Pretty In Pink, Whisper White (all SU!), Kaisercraft, unknown
Stamps: Country Companions (I think - the packaging has long since disappeared), Itty Bitty Banners (SU!)

Challenges:

Whoops Downton's on! Shhhhhh...........!!

Card - ribbit!

A clean and simple card is next for tonight, featuring a friendly little green frog. I haven't seen any little frogs around for awhile, only big ugly cane toads, but there is definitely one living in the drainpipe outside my office door because he was very happily croaking this week during a sudden afternoon downpour.

I was inspired by two challenges  including the sketch is from CAS(e) #70:

And here's my take:

I bought this stamp set from Stampin' Up! last year to do a fundraiser for a local animal rescue group. It's been at the back of my stamp collection since then but I've got a few ideas for it so time to blow off the dust and cobwebs! The frog is stamped straight onto the base card, with a ring of green around it.

Card recipe:
Card stock/paper: Whisper White, Pear Pizazz
Stamp set: Animal Talk
Ink: Pear Pizazz
Dies: Circle Collection
All products are from SU!

Layout - Ethan's 2nd birthday

I just want to say firstly: I am NOT a "brights" scrapper. I don't like using lots of bright colours on a 12x12, which might be why this fun birthday paper has been in my stash for so long.  However when I saw the birthday challenges at Scrap Our Stash and the sketch over at Scrap & Music I just knew they would be coming together with the bright and happy photos from the 2nd birthday party of our little mate Ethan.

Because I don't use brights as a general rule, I have a severe shortage of bright embellishments - so I made my own. The banners are Kaisercraft wooden shapes, coloured with ink and glossed with Crackle  Accents.

Layout recipe:
Card stock/paper: Surprise Party (Doodlebug Design Inc), Bazzill
Dies: Sizzix alphabet
Stickers: K & Co, Echo Park
Banners: Kaisercraft
Inks: Pumpkin Pie, Pear Pizazz, Real Red, Pacific Point, Basic Black Marker (all SU!)
Other: gold cord, Crackle Accents (Ranger)

Layout - fond memory

Who doesn't love a bit of bling! I was appalled to find so little left in my stash for Scrap our Stash's #3 birthday challenge!! I'll have to rectify this sad situation ASAP!!! Can you see it highlighting the butterfly's wings and flowers?

Card recipe:
All products from Echo Park's For The Record 2 collection, except diamontes from SU!

Layout - splash

Blogging today from the rock I live under! OMG I saw a gorgeous layout on Kerry's blog yesterday that she created for the Scrap our Stash scrapping challenge. Intrigued I went and looked and oh no I've missed most of the fun!!! Birthday challenges have been set every second day in March and the idea behind the blog is to use what's in your stash so I am all over it like a, well like a scrapper!!!

So here is my first layout for the CAKE challenge, which was to use at least three layers in the layout:

You'll note that I have covered up the photos of The Boy in this instance - I think you can guess why from the theme.  Never fear, he has the cheesiest grin on his face and spent the whole afternoon giggling madly with his beloved Auntie E.

Card recipe:
Card stock/paper: Bazzill, unknown, packing paper from an internet order
Other: thickers, chipboard word (RW Laser Cuts), rub ons (Kaszazz), sticker (Paper Craft Australia)
Stamp: Gorgeous Grunge (SU!)
Ink: Sky Blue (SU!), Basic Black marker
Sun was hand drawn and cut out.

Birthday card - less is more

Another quick and easy CAS card completed last night, this time for the Less is More challenge.  This one wasn't a sketch challenge, we need to use 3 of something on the card.  I've used three stamps, BUT the part that I consciously did for the challenge was three tiny sticky pearls on the poppy.  It's very hard to see I know but I promise it's there!

Card Recipe:
Cardstock: Whisper White
Stamps: Blooming With Kindness, Gorgeous Grunge, Simply Sketched
Embossing folder: Designer Frames
Inks: Perfect Plum, Tempting Turquoise

Challenge:

Now the second part of the challenge was to go visit 3 new blogs by fellow challenge-ees.  Don't have to ask me twice!!!

Enjoy layout

When I saw the double sketch challenge at Stick It Down yesterday, I just knew I had to have a go!  I'd procrastinated on the last sketch for 24 hours too long and I definitely wasn't going to miss this one!

Here's the sketch:

And here's my take on it (sorry it's a bit blurry, I seem to have misplaced my camera so taking shots for the time being on my iPad):

Layout recipe:
Cardstock/paper: Bo Bunny Blast Off! Mission Control, Kaisercraft, assorted Bazzill, and an unknown brand that the phrase has come from
Embellies:Buttons (SU!), Rocket stickers (Karen Foster Design: Blast Off!)
Dies: Sizzix alphabet

Birthday card - CAS(e)

Happy Thursday!  Hope you are coasting towards the weekend with a smile on your face and a spring in your step!

Today I have a clean and simple card for the CAS(E) this sketch! challenge #69

Here's the sketch in case you would like to have a go:

And here's my take on it:

I must admit I really struggled with this challenge, I am trying to dial my style back to a simpler one but I still couldn't resist adding flourishes... I did stop myself from even thinking about embellies though!

Card recipe:
Stamps: Happy Day, Blooming with Kindness, Everything Eleanor
Dies: Décor Labels, Circle Collection
Cardstock: Whisper White, Certainly Celery (retired), Soft Suede
Ink: Certainly Celery (retired), Soft Suede.
Punch: corner rounder
(All products for this card are from Stampin' Up!)

So cute layout

I adore this photo of The Boy - he was aged about 3 years and went through a stage of wanting to wear my glasses - unless they were on my face, nowhere was safe!!!

One of my favourite techniques is one I call rusty chipboard...

It's a combination of inking, distress embossing powder and bronze rub :) it really looks all rusty and old in real life!

Layout recipe:
Stamps: Kaszazz, Stampin' Up!
Card stock & paper: Bazzill, Kaisercraft, 1030 Private Extra (?), Echo Park
Other embellies: coils, safety pins, chipboard cogs, chipboard stars, metal charm, string, washi tape, bottle cap
Dies: circles, banners, alphabet
Inks: distress inks (faded jeans, brushed corduroy), SU chocolate chip
Embossing powder: Distress Embossing Powder (brushed corduroy)
Other: metallic rub, sponges

Challenges:

I have to pack up my makeshift work desk tonight for use by The Boy tomorrow for his speech therapy, but this time tomorrow plan to be up to my armpits in ink and tape!

MRI layout

I do so love these photos of The Boy on the day that changed our lives forever with a long awaited diagnosis that put us on a new journey.  Accompanied by his lifelong BFF, The Boy was so brave!

Layout recipe
Card stock & paper: For the record 2, Echo Park
Other: gold brads, black marker, washi tape

Happy Day card

While The Man and The Boy watched Spiderman, I very happily played with a huge tangle of ribbons, lace, flowers and embellies in between answering various spidey-questions from The Boy. He is hearing impaired and often misses contextual clues and is forever learning lots of new vocabulary and more recently non-literal language.  A lot of work for an 8 year old!

So here is tonight's card. I'm only a relative newcomer to the world of washi tape, but for some reason one of mine has lost its stickiness... Weird. Might be something to do with our humidity.

Card recipe
Stamps: OA Happy Day (The Greeting Farm)
Card stock and paper: Kaszazz, Stampin' Up! (& doily)
Colouring medium: Copic markers
Other: assorted (flowers, bell, buttons, household string, packing paper, corrugated cardboard from a box, lace, washi tape)

Challenges
I'd like to enter this card in the following challenges:
One Sweet Challenge: Scream for green
Loves Rubberstamps: Use corrugated cardboard (#95)

Have a happy day!

Congratulations card
